HRC Showcase Theater, celebrating its twenty first season, proudly announces its annual playwriting contest, open to new, aspiring or established playwrights.

Playwriting Contest Guidelines
HHRC Showcase Theatre in Hudson, New York, invites submissions of full-length plays to its annual contest from new, aspiring or established playwrights. Each submitted play should be previously unpublished, run no more than 90 minutes (excluding intermission), require no more than six actors, and be suitable for presentation as a staged reading by Equity actors. No musicals or children’s plays will be considered.

The 2012-2013 HRC season runs from September, 2013 to June, 2014. Judges will select the winner of the W. Keith Hedrick award ($500), which will be presented as the final staged reading of the season. The authors of the four runners-up also selected for readings will each be awarded $100. To qualify for the prizes, each playwright must attend the reading of his/her play in Hudson, New York.

Entries must be received by March 1, 2013, along with a $10.00 processing fee. In order to ensure a blind reading, the writer’s name, contact information, and biography should be enclosed separately. Please let us know where you heard about the contest. Scripts will not be returned. The winners will be notified at the end of the summer of 2013.
